The climate

 

The environmental conditions in a particular region are known as the climate. For solar energy: the better (warmer) the climate, the better the conditions. Climate includes the following factors:

  • temperature
  • wind speed
  • precipitation
  • temperature difference between day and night
  • temperature difference between the seasons

 

What on earth is climate?

In contrast to weather, the climate is an average taken over a longer period of time. In general, a period of thirty years is used to measure the averages of the factors making up the climate.

The climate on earth is primarily determined by the sun. For temperature, the elevation of the terrain also has an effect. Other factors that influence climate:

  • The presence of tracts of water
  • extensive forests, which lower temperature and increase humidity
  • High mountains
