What is an inverter?

 

Grid-connected systems need an inverter to convert the DC power into 230-volt AC power for delivery to the public power grid. It is important for the inverter to be set up for natural ventilation, because many inverters underperform if their temperature gets too high. Put the inverter as close as possible to the panels to minimise power loss.
