PV system types

 

There are two types:

  • Stand-alone systems: these systems are not connected to the grid. The electricity is supplied to a storage battery or directly to a consumer device, such as a pump. This is DC power (DC = Direct Current).
     
  • Grid-connected systems: these supply electricity to the public power grid. To do this, the DC power must first be converted into 230-volt AC power (AC = Alternating Current) using an inverter.
