Forms of direct solar energy

We distinguish between three forms of direct solar energy:

Passive solar energy?
Optimum use of sunlight entering buildings for heat and lighting.
Thermal solar
energy?In these applications, heat from the sun is used to heat up water, for example. The most common application is the solar water heater.
Photovoltaic solar energy?
PV systems (PV: P=Photo=light, V=Voltaic=electricity)
